The mission of NLX - Natural Language and Speech Group of the Department of Informatics, Faculty of Sciences is to undertake research on Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence, with special focus on Speech and Natural Language Processing. It ensures the participation of the University of Lisbon in DELPH-IN.

The University of Lisbon is commited to the participation in DELPH-IN by undertaking the development of a range of resources for the deep linguistic processing of the Portuguese language, under the direction of António Branco.

This development of resources for Portuguese is supported by the Portuguese Government, MCTES - Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia e Ensino Superior, via de FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, under the contract PLUS/PLP/50301/2003.
